11 years ago a friend and I decided to try making soap. Our first two batches took almost two hours of stirring each, were poured into (new) plastic, kitty litter trays and, miraculously, turned out to be lovely soap. With an ever-expanding inventory of soap curing in the basement and no particular plan to create a business, our company Camamu was born.
Now, eleven years and many tons of soap later, the soap lady, Camamu’s bathing beauty, is thriving. Our soap is still lovingly handmade in keeping with our commitment to artisan production methods, still, always, all natural, and still formulated to provide superlative care to the skin. Owned and operated by two women (Lori Basson & Sarah Hanna), Camamu is proud to be a part of Portland and the Pacific Northwest’s bustling sustainable business community.
