Camamu's Silken Goat's Milk Shaving Soap is formulated to produce a dense, long-lasting lather that yields a smooth, close shave. Our richly nourishing oils combine with glide-promoting bentonite clay and organic, skin-soothing herbs to soften the bristles yielding soft, smooth and well-moisturized skin. Goat's milk is the same pH as our skin, moisturizes, nourishes and contains alpha lipoic acids which help to gently remove the top layer of dead skin cells.

Made for men and women from coconut, RSPO-certified palm, olive, castor, apricot kernel, sweet almond, shea butter and aloe oils, and fresh goat's milk. Scented with essential oils of lavender, clary sage, bergamot mint, and rosemary.

Available as 75 g/2.5 oz square. 100% natural, gluten free.

Camellia Seed Oil, also known as tsubaki oil has been used in Japan for skincare for thousands of years, for its conditioning, protective, ability to repair and help with scarring. It is also an excellent 'dry' and astringent oil very well suited for all skin types, including oily or acne-prone skin.

A great alternative to shaving cream

I normally get this shave soap at our locally owned natural food store. They haven't had it recently, so I decided to get it from the source. Both my husband and I use it for shaving. He has no issues shaving his face with it and I have no issues shaving my legs with it. The bar itself lasts a long time as well. It is a great alternative to shave creams. The fragrance is perfect, not to strong. I always get a great lather using a boar bristle shave brush. We highly recommend you get this bar!

A body bar disguised as a shave soap.

I bought this soap from the Good Food Store in Missoula, MT. This is a great soap… but not for shaving. I used this soap with a Simpsons Commodore Badger Brush and warm to hot water from the tap which comes from our well so is nice and soft. The lather dissipates extremely fast regardless of hydration level leaving the skin unprotected. The product needs more stearic acid in the formula to stabilize the lather and create thickness and cushion, too much palmitic and oleic acid which doesn’t generate the aforementioned quality of lather. I find many artisan soap makers re-use their formulas from their hand and body soaps for shaving but the requirement are very specific for shaving. A great shame since the scent is fantastic. Makes a fine soap for using in the shower though.

Great Product, Thick Lather

This soap smells INCREDIBLE. It's got this really nice light lavender scent, with a little bit of citrus I can't quite place. It only took a little bit of whipping with my synthetic brush to get it going, and it produced a mound of foam. The lather was dense, almost creamy. It felt great on my face, very moisturizing. Even after shaving with a very aggressive blade, I felt very little irritation. Great product you guys!

take this product off the market

This soap is not a shaving soap. It does not create anywhere near a thick enough lather to shave with. After 10+ minutes of trying to build lather that wasn't just airy bubbles I finally gave up and tried a single pass with my razor. It was like shaving with water only, the soap provided no lubrication and the razor scraped across my face. I had to give up before I could shave more than half of my face. It's dangerous to even market this as a shave soap.

I really wanted to like this soap when I saw it at the grocery store. It smells great and all of the ingredients sounded good to me, although I was sceptical when i saw there wasnt any glycerine or tallow base to the soap. I should have trusted my gut.

Thanks for the comments, you wouldn't happen to live someplace with hard water? First, we worked with the Portland Razor Co. to develop this product some years ago- multiple tests. There are basically two ways of making artisan-style shaving soap: hot process and cold process. They each have their advantages and disadvantages: We use a cold process, and are vegetable based, vegan etc.. It’s important to make a soap that has great lather, but it’s also important that the soap is moisturizing, creamy, bubbly, slick, and protective, which ours is, apparently not enough on the lather for you. Note, we have combined Silken with our Goats Milk, and reformulated. It's call it Silken Goats Milk now. We love a challenge, and will keep working to make the best possible products - Camamu
