A PINK SOAP, A GREEN SWIRL, A FEEL-GOOD MOMENT

FEEL-GOOD SPRING RITUALS
This morning, the sky looked like a forgotten scarf—soft blue and gently rumpled, with cherry and plum blossoms silhouetted against it. Spring always feels like a soft awakening—light returns, colors reappear, and little by little, we start to notice things again.
There’s something undeniably feel-good about it. Not just the warmer air or the longer light, but the way it reminds us to slow down and take things in.—light returns, colors reappear, and little by little, we start to notice things again.
I’ve started a series called Feel-Good Spring Rituals—little reflections on the sensory, everyday things that help us feel more alive, more at ease, and more connected to ourselves and the natural world.
This week I’ve been thinking about SIGHT: what catches it, what calms it, what invites it to linger
Noticing becomes its own kind of ritual, a way to remember that beauty and comfort are often right in front of us.
WHAT WE SEE AND HOW IT FEELS
In the shower...
This morning, I stepped into the shower and reached for a bar of Flowers Whisper. The soft coral pink, the fine petal flecks caught my eye. It made me pause.
There’s something about holding a bar that looks like it could’ve bloomed—it reminds me to notice the small things.
We’ve always believed that bodycare should be more than functional—it should bring joy. This is what a feel-good soap is to us: a simple, sensory moment you look forward to.

In the Studio

In the studio, Stu had just finished some new batches of soap.
Nearby, turmeric sat in a golden heap—glowing like it had something to say. Then I looked over at a bowl of thick, green soap catching shadows and reflections. A streak of dark pigment curled into the surface like ink in water.
A feel-good soap doesn’t just care for the skin—it lifts the spirit. In the studio, that feeling is everywhere. It’s in the big wooden trays of fresh soap catching the light, in the lavender buds stored in glass jars, the dried orange safflower, the soft-blue tape we use to label each box. Small things. But together, they shape a space—and a product—that feels good to make, and even better to use.
A friend was in the studio recently, picking up an order, and she stopped in front of a tray of soaps. “This one,” she said, “just looks like spring.” I’d seen it every day and somehow missed it. It made me smile for the rest of the afternoon. That’s what a feel-good moment does—it sticks around.
HOW A FEEL-GOOD SOAP SHIFTS THE MOOD
Color is one of the quietest mood shifters we have. It works in the background—without needing to announce itself. A soft pink, a pale green, a wash of yellow—these colors have a way of calming or lifting us. We don’t always realize they’re working, but they are.
That’s something I’ve come to love about watching Stu make soap.. The ingredients nourish, yes—but the colors speak, too. A bar of feel-good soap offers more than care for the skin. It offers a mood. A moment. A pause.
In the bath or at the sink, the color of a bar—the swirl, the specks, the unexpected shade—can change how you feel, even for a second. It reminds you to slow down. To enjoy the feeling. And to notice.
Noticing becomes its own kind of ritual. And a feel-good soap is often where it begins.
I don’t need to go anywhere special to feel connected or calm. Sometimes the world hands us a feel-good moment without asking. We just have to catch it.
